The English Department of Obafemi Awolowo University Ile -Ife, was yesterday in mourning mood with death of Taiwo Oyetola, a female 100 level student of the department.

The National Association of Students of English and Literary Studies, NASELS OAU announced that Miss Oyetola died yesterday at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTCH) after illness.

Ife City News gathered that the deceased was said to be passing through body pains few days ago and visited health centre for treatment.

According to one of the deceased friends,  who preferred not to mention her name said the body pain was a regular ailment.

“We were told that the body pain that led to Taiwo’s death was different from the previous ones as she had to be admitted at the university health center and her mother had to rush down to OAU from Lagos to see things for herself.

“Taiwo felt relieved later on Saturday evening but felt the pain again on Sunday which led to her being referred from the University Health Centre to OAUTHC.

“When we got to OAUTHC, doctors told us that she was getting better and we were asked to leave her alone so that she could rest, it was unfortunate that the next report we heard was that Taiwo has gone to the world beyond”, deceased friend narrated

NASELS executives has however declared mourning of the deceased in the department.

Meanwhile, all efforts to reach the deceased mother proved abortive as at the time of filling this report.
