The circular reads “students are to vacate the hostel on or before 8th of April 2017, pack all your belongings along, do not lock your rooms, do not lock your wardrobes, any locked room or wardrobe will be forced open and leave an empty room. ”
Mozambique Hall of Residence is the female hostel for newly admitted undergraduate students.
Fresh students who reacted to the development condemned the release of the circular and urged the hall management to reconsider its position to allow students complete their examinations.
A female student from Department of English, Busola Fayemi described the circular as unacceptable and reflection of synergy between the university authorities and the hall management.
She said “management shifted exams and yet they want us to vacate the hostel before our final paper, which shows that various units in the university are not working together with the conflicting directives”.
Funke Ilori while reacting on the circular expressed confidence that the hall management will review and reversed the circular.
“I am optimistic that the hall management will also extend the vacation date following the resolution of the Senate of the university on March 29th“.
Several efforts to meet the Hall Warden were unsuccessful as her office was locked at the time of filling this report.
Meanwhile, newly admitted students, 2016/2017 academic session are expected to resume into the hall of residence on 30th of April, 2017.
It would be recalled that the university senate last week extended the examination date till April 13, to allow the university participation in the Pre –NUGA holding this week.
