OAU DSA Laments Students Refusal to Vacate Halls of Residence

The Dean, Division of Students Affair, Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, Professor (Mrs) Grace Akinola has said that the students of the varsity loves to have bedbugs in their halls of residence.

The Dean said students refused to leave their halls of residence for their various houses for fumigation to take place after a special release from the division of students affair.

She said the students seem to love seeing bedbugs in their halls because the management have instructed them to vacate the halls even if it is just for two days for fumigation.

She said “After fumigation, we need to lock the halls for 48hrs in order to make it effective but we have been faced with different excuses from students. While some tender the project as excuse, some told us it is SIWES. Some of these students portals are not active meaning majority of those on campus are not students”.

“I told the President of the  Students’ Union, Oyekan Ibukun that most students on ground do not have a letter from their Heads of Departments to support the claims”.

She added that the institution made arrangement for all male students to go to ETF Hall and the female to temporarily move to Alumni Hall but insisted to stay back in their various halls which would not allow fumigation.

Meanwhile, the new admitted students for 2016/2017 academic session are expected to be on campus on Sunday, 30th of April 2017.
