OAU Man O’ War Donates Walk Way

Man O War Obafemi Awolowo University Unit during the weekend donated and commissioned a walk way between the roads that link banking area and sport complex of the institution.

Following constant recent road accidents in OAU campus, the paramilitary organization, took it upon itself to erect the walk way to curb the incessant road accident and safe more lives in the university community.

The commission ceremony  was attended  by top functionaries in the university including the Dean of Division Students’ Affairs, Professor (Mrs.) Grace Akinola, the Chief Security Officer of the University, Professor B. J Olasode, the Association Staff adviser, Aderanti Adesoji Emmanuel and the Chief Commandant of Man O’ War, OAU chapter,  Innocent Eze among others.

Man O’ Staff Adviser, Aderanti Emmanuel stated that the association is not solely created to provide security for the public but also to be socially and corporately responsible to the society.

He said the walk way is not the first project that Man ‘O’ war  OAU chapter would embark on and  listed series of developmental projects  which includes erection of bumps, zebra crossing, bridges that lead to halls of residence, and many others.

Dean,  Division of Students’ Affairs, Professor (Mrs) Grace Akinola also commended the initiatives of the association and encouraged them to compliment the project with zebra crossing in front of the walk way, to really curb road accident as intended.

“The university community appreciate and give kudos to the Man O’ War for giving back to the University community by embarking on this short project, which would lessen road accidents and also serve as means of safety to pedestrian. However, the association should try to include zebra crossing to avoid total occurrence of accident” DSA said.

Man O. War commandant, Mr Eze Innocent said that the association is working on how to initiate more projects in the university to see them as forerunners in social welfare.
