OAU NUNSA Elects Abayomi as President

Nigerian Universities Nursing Students Association, (NUNSA) Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile – Ife, Chapter has elected Ogunjobi Abayomi  as President of the association.

Ogunjobi Abayomi, a 400 Level Student of the department defeated  Omolere Oluwatoobiloba, a 300L Level Student  with 5 to 3  Electoral Committee  deciding votes.

Abayomi and Tobi had 166 votes each at the general election which led to a tie while the electoral committee invoked its constitutional power to decide the whiner of the election in such circumstances.

After the electoral committee votes, Ayobami polled 5 votes against Oluwatobi 3 votes and subsequently emerged as the president.

Abayomi while speaking to our reporter after the announcement lauded the sportsmanship spirit of his main contender especially by avoiding usual propaganda and character assassination those normally characteristic political processes in the university.

He said “ I really appreciate all members of NUNSA OAU for their trust in me, and coming out massively to handover the mantle of NUNSA leadership to me. I want to use this medium to congratulate my contender Omolere Oluwatobiloba,  he displayed high level of maturity and  spirit of sportsmanship by running a healthy campaign that devoid  propaganda and character assassination. I believe there is no loser in this election, we are joint winners and I will be willing to work with him to move NUNSA forward”.

He congratulated all newly elected executives and parliamentarians elected into various offices and seek their cooperation in moving the association forward regardless ideological inclination.

He said “The challenges to building a progressive NUNSA may be numerous, but they are surmountable and with the cooperation of my executives and God almighty we will sail through.”
