Traders Lament Incessant Crisis in Ile-Ife

Despite the return of normalcy to Iremo in Ile –Ife after a violent protests  some angry youths during the weekend, over the killing of  Advanced Free Fraud (Yahoo Boy) suspect by police, commercial activities are yet to return fully to the affected areas.

Ife City News visit to Iremo during the week indicated that the heavy security presence yet not enough confidence for traders to transact business in the area while some parents also disallowed their children from going to school for fair of attack.

In most of the streets visited, some of the shops were still under lock and key while those opening for business are providing skeletal services for fear of any crisis.

As at Wednesday, Odada riders and commercial motorists are still avoiding the route while chunks of debris on the streets remained uncleared

While speaking, Mrs Olonade Funmilayo, a trader, told Ife City News that the phobia of what happened during weekend in still in the mind of the people and many are not sure of safety   the crisis is getting unbearable to them.

She expressed sadness that the people of Ile – Ife are still battling with Hausa/Yoruba crisis which for weeks paralysed   activities in major markets in  the ancient before the weekend mayhem in Iremo.

Funmilayo lamented that the incessant crisis can lead to economic breakdown of the ancient city and the neighboring towns.

Mallam Nuhu Sultan, a stock fish seller appealed to the Governor of Osun State, Mr Rauf Aregbesola to intensify efforts in ensuring peace, security of life and properties in Ile-Ife.
