The Outstanding Feet of the New OAU Vice Chancellor

The Governing Council of Obafemi Awolowo University, lle Ife led by Dr. Yemi Ogunbiyi on Monday, 8th of May, 2017 announced Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede as the 11th Vice Chancellor who shall be at the helms of the affair of the institution for the next five years.

The newly appointed Vice Chancellor, Professor Ogunbodede has been in the service since the year 1987, joining Obafemi Awolowo University as a medical training fellow.

He rose to become a Professor of Preventive and Community Dentistry in October, 2000.

As an Editor – in – Chief of African Journal for Oral Health, an international Journal which is aim at disseminating knowledge that will enhance the practice of Oral health in Africa, he has published 96 full length peer reviewed scientific journal articles and 2 books.

He served as a member of the University Governing Council between 2009 – 2011, a member of Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital College (OAUTHC) between 2007 – 2009, a member of Strategic Planning Committee between 2003-2011.

Professor Ogunbodede initaited the International Association of Dental Research, which was officially inaugurated on the 26th of June 2002 during the first Annual Scientific Congress at Obafemi Awolowo University.

Some of the desire of the newly appointed Vice Chancellor includes; introduction of Aeronautics Engineering, Health Management, Mass Communication, Library Science and others that will add value to local, national and global world at large.

OAU governing council led by Dr. Yemi Ogunbiyi  confirmed  Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede as the new Vice Chancellor of the institution after Monday  council’s meeting.

The Public Relations Officer of the varsity, Mr Abiodun Olanrewaju confirmed the appointment in a conversation with our reporter

It was also gathered that Non Academic Staff Union (NASU OAU) and Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU OAU) accepted his appointment.

A NASU member, Mr. Taofeek Ayoola said that they prefer the elected Vice Chancellor to other candidates.
