The New Arewa Vision Initiative (NAVI) a northern part of Nigeria Socio- political group has expressed its commitment to the unity of Nigeria saying living together of Yoruba’s and Hausa’s in Ife is not negotiable.
The group condemned in strong term, the recent crisis in Sabo, Ile –Ilfe and condoned with Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi and Arewa Community over the loss of life and properties during the crisis.
NAVI Chairman, Colonel Lawan Gwadabe (Rtd) said this during the group visit to Ooni on the peace sustainable campaign.
According to Gwadabe, the two tribes has history of living together for more than a decade and the March 8 incident should not be allow to truncate the harmonious relationship being enjoying by the two tribes in Ile-Ife.
He said the group board and patrons decide to pay a courtesy visit to Ooni, in recognition of his vital role in the crisis and condoled with the Hausa community who losses life and quantum of properties.
He added that the group came to visit the king to reinforce abiding faith and solidarity with the people of Ile Ife.
” It is only through peaceful coexistence that our country can be truly strong and indivisible under the banner in diversity.” He said.
Responding, Ooni said that normalcy has returned to the crisis area in the ancient city while commercial and other social activities is already progressing among the two tribes in Sabo and other part of Ife land.
He commended the effort of the group for its peace mission and assured them the cooperation of the palace.
