“So Far, The Idea” is a final year exhibition by the founding fathers of art education in higher education all over the world particularly; Nigeria which is yielding far reaching results.
In Obafemi Awolowo University Ile- Ife, the renewed efforts through the introduction of a course to cater for that exercise is encouraging both staff and students to realise this important aspect of arts profession.
This year exhibition was declared open by Professor B. T. Aluko, Dean Faculty of Environmental Design and Management alongside Professor G. R. Adeoti, Dean Faculty of Arts and Dr. A. O. Ilesanmi Acting Head, Department of Architecture.
Since the opening, the exhibition ground has attracted visits from staff and students of the University, elementary and high school students from Ile-Ife and other tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
So far has been an effort in the right direction. This year’s show by the final year students (2015/2016 session), showcased energy, dexterity and determination by the 58 students who are participating in the exhibition.
This is the 5th in the renewed efforts of showing what they are really doing as artists and what the Nigerian nation and the university can gain from the world of art.
‘So Far’ remains the main title of the exhibitions, and may be for years to come. This year’s exhibition however added a slight twist to that by giving a sub-theme of ‘The Idea’
‘So far, The Idea’ witnessed display spanning the different areas of arts; paintings, graphics, photograph, sculpture, printmaking and ceramics. Some of them are also on sale for those interested.
Professor Aluko during the exhibition said “sSo far, we are encouraged by these young men and women that the future of art in our school is bright. We therefore call on everyone as we have always done to be part of our development and successes.
