Hall of Residence Dismantled Mosques

Following the crisis rocking the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, (MSSN) Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile- Ife, Chapter, the management of the institution has demolished residence Mosques in Awolowo and Fajuyi Hall.
A top management source told Ife City News that recurring crisis in the mosques which was a fallout of the division in MSSN forced the management to remove the temporary structures erected as mosques in the two hall of residence.
The Muslim students since last year were unable to resolved the leadership crisis rocking the society which often generates disagreements in the hall of residence mosque.
Mubarak Saliu, a student of department of English and Awolowo hall residents said condemned the action of the school management.
An eyewitness told Ife City News that team that removed the mosques structures were accompanied by the Chairman OAU Muslim Community, Professor Aransi and the university security officers.
Also, the Division of Students Affairs has hence forth banned religious activities in halls of residence and enjoined students to observe prayer in their respective rooms or religious ground.
Dean of Students Affairs, Professor Grace Akinola told our reporter in a phone conversation that the steps taken by the varsity was aimed at sustaining the existing peace on the campus and prevent any form of religion crisis.
Akinola said steps taken were precaution saying no responsible authority will fold its hands and allow escalation of avoidable religion crisis.
