OAU College of Health Sciences Holds 10th Grillo Annual Lecture

The College of Health Sciences, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife yesterday  held the 10th Annual Memorial Lecture of Professor Tai Grillo, the first Anatomist in Nigeria  and foundational Dean of the college.

Professor Felix Adah, the Guest Speaker at the memorial lecture titled: “Nutrition and Physical Fitness; An Indispensable duo for National Health”, Professor Felix Adah,  said Nigeria  young children are most vulnerable to malnutrition, metabolic syndrome and obesity as a result of the choice of consumable items.

He said obesity predisposes an individual to cardiovascular disease, diabetes and other sickness that are harmful to the body.

“We all should avoid taking things that can cut our lives short. Obesity is disastrous and diabetes brings untimely death if not managed well”, Professor Felix said.

The memorial lecture has in attendance the Acting Vice Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University; Professor Anthony Elujoba, Provost of College of Health Sciences; Professor Adesegun  Fatusi, the newly appointed Vice Chancellor; Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede, the Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom, Oba (Dr.) Kiladejo, and the Deputy Provost , College of Health Sciences; Professor Aboderin among others.

Also at the memorial lecture, an award of excellence was presented to the newly appointed Vice Chancellor, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede for his contribution to the successful annual memorial lecture.
