OAUSU President Clarifies Controversy Surrounding New Union Bus

The president of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile- Ife, Students’ Union,  Oyekan Ibukun during a press conference cleared the air on controversy surrounding the purchase of the bus by his administration.

He said the purchase of the bus was meant for transportation not for student union, “I didn’t buy the bus for student union but for transportation. That is why I have to buy a fine and moderate bus.”

On the issue of the price of the bus, the president stated that the bus was purchased for N2.5 million and not N3million and denied any form of inflation of the bus price

He said he is ready to release the keys to any one that wishes to verify from any car dealer and if the bus is said to be worth less than the said price, he would willingly resign.

He said he had written Independent Corrupt Practice and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)to investigate a financial dealing  and the two agencies have responded stating the evidences needed should be sent to them for verification.

He admitted mistake in the purchase of the first bus and assured students that he will setup a committee when it is time not to repeat the mistake.
