The President of Ife Action Council, Mr Olajiire Awowoyin has called on youths in the ancient city to embrace the opportunity accruing from the agricultural policy of the country as a way of chasing out unemployment in Nigeria.
He made this call in an exclusive interview with Ife City News in his office during the weekend meeting of the group on Saturday.
The president told the youths in the ancient city not to see farming profession as abomination, adding that agriculture is now a revolution which is making more people millionaires.
According to him, the system of practicing farming has changed from the old ways of doing it as a result of the technological innovations around the world.
Awowoyin said the era of chasing white collar jobs is over with their non-existence coupled with the economic recession in the country which has made paid jobs less attractive to the people.
He disclosed that the Federal Government is rolling out many programmes under its job creation scheme to get most of the youths of the state out of the unemployment market.
He maintained that with opportunities provided by poultry and animals husbandry, agro allied businesses and grain farming, more youths are on their way to be employers of labour rather than job seekers.
Similarly, he called on the youths in the ancient city to give more room for peace and do away with all things that can destabilise peace in the area.
