Ile Ife Crisis Was Not Ethnic Clash- Panel

The Judiciary Panel of inquiry set up by the Osun State Government to look into the disturbance of peace at Sabo area in Ile Ife was not an ethnic clash.
In an exclusive interview with the secretary of the panel, Mr Bisi Babalola said that they have looked at the origin of the crisis and the crisis was not based on tribal issue.
“If you follow this crisis, they are just crimes that happened without any warning”
“If you look at that Ife crisis, if you see how it started, it’s just a disagreement between one woman and hausa who were selling food along the road not an ethnic clash”
“Most of the people that submitted memoranda were not at the scene, and majority of it that will received are expecting compensation from the government”
“We received 406 memoranda, we have treated 289. I can assure the public that the panel would soon make recommendation to the government in due course”
“We started sitting on April 19 and we sat for 27 days. Many of those that submitted memoranda have refused to show up before the panel despite announcement and several invitation,” Babalola stated.
