The Chairman of Angola Hall of Residence, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osungbade Akeem was allegedly attacked by some gangs led by Okolie Victor, a student of Department of Dramatic Arts.
It was gathered that the suspected hoodlums drove roughly to Anglomoz Car Park in an usual manner and proceeded to the executives room in Angola, assaulted the hall chairman and other executives in the room before one of the executives escaped through the back door to call the attention of the hall residents to the kerfuffle.
In an interaction with the victim, Osungbade Akeem told IFE CITY NEWS that the assault and attempted abduction was in connection with his complaint against reckless driving in the area when a car almost hit a female student on the road.
He said: “Okolie Victor popularly addressed as Chawlee approached me that I insulted his boys and for doing that, he threatened to deal with me and obviously he did by leading some hefty men to drag me out of exco room. The consciousness of the people around saved from abduction. However, I was beaten mercilessly by Chawlee and his boys”, the hall chairman said.
When our reporter asked for the account of the accused, Okolie Victor refused to talk to journalist as all efforts made to allow him speak proved abortive.
Meanwhile, an emergency congress was called in the hall of residence and it was resolved that the suspects, Okolie Victor and other two men apprehended be beaten 30 strokes of cane each while they remain remanded in Angola pending their open moderation.
It would be recalled that the accused, Okolie Victor contested for the position of Director of Social in the last students’ union election but lost to Adedayo Lamba.
