“A dying and unproductive judicial system leads to delay of justice and promotes irregularities”
I have been called from several quotas to state my position on the detention and trial of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, immediate past Vice Chancellor Prof. Anthony Elujoba by the Economic Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).
Well, truth is bitter but I have also learnt to always say the truth regardless of who it may affect. If EFCC wants to really dig deep into the corruption that has taken place in Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, for decades, then, Late Ooni of Ife, Oba Sijuade Okunade may need to reincarnate because all unions on campus have alleged him to be part of the irregularities in OAU before the intervention of Federal Government in 2016 with the appointment of Professor Elujoba.
For many who are yet to know the reasons for Professor Anthony Elujoba detention, I will enlighten you. This herbal pharmacist trial is connected to the backlog allowances he paid to workers of the institution upon his appointment as the acting vice chancellor to restore normalcy and ensure stable academic activities.
I was wowed by the way workers on campus celebrated Prof. Elujoba last month when he handed over to the new VC. His attitude when he was in office turned Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja ll to chorus leader as the monarch led several songs to eulogise the herbal pharmacist.
Just one petition led to the arraignment of a man who I consider to be too moral for Nigeria system and to those who care to know, morality has no place in law.
In the past OAU students have stormed the social media with hashtag #probeomole but the anti graft agency pretended to be deaf and blind.
It may interest you to know that presently the new VC of OAU, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede has been parading Abuja immediately after his inauguration to answer the call of the House of Representatives Committee probing the university management over alleged N4.6 billion unremitted funds since 2008 financial year and those who were the real looters work freely on the streets of Nigeria with some of them holding strong position in the country.
Hmm, Elujoba may not be a saint, but he is by far better than the previous vice chancellors. Baba has forgotten that you don’t appear straight forward to those who ‘play’ you. Elujoba Professor fell in their hands allegedly through the Bursar of the institution, Mrs. Aderonke Akeredolu and others who shared table with Prof. Omole and his cabals. They were part of the corrupt system.
1.) Prof. Elujoba should not be detained, he should be allowed to come to court from home.
2.) Proper investigation should be done and if he (Elujoba) his found guilty, justice should prevail
3.) EFCC should investigate the finance of Obafemi Awolowo University for the past 10 years
4.) Prof. Bamitale Omole should be probed by EFCC and other anti-graft agencies.
5.) Over 60 petitions written against Prof. Bamitale Omole should be revisited.
6.) Prof. Bamitale Omole should be arraigned with facts and evidences to nail him and if found guilty, justice should prevail.
Till we meet in court on Tuesday, 11th of July, 2017, the above are my prayers.
