Breaking : OAU NASU Opts Out Of Nationwide Strike

Following the directive of the national leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (NASU) to commence a nationwide strike this Tuesday, the Obafemi Awolowo University Chapter of the Union may not join the strike, Ife City News has authoritatively gathered.

The Chairman of NASU OAU chapter, Comrade Wole Odewumi  told Ife City News in a conversation that the boycott  is among others to protest the negligence of the national body of NASU to OAU chapter the struggle for the members allowances and Vice Chancellor Crisis in 2016.

Odewumi while speaking with our reporter said: “we have issues that we are yet to resolve with the national body and if they declare nationwide strike, OAU chapter will be out of their decision”, he said.

He further buttressed that whatever decision the national body agreed on will not be bidding on OAU chapter.

Another NASU member, popularly known as Mama NASU told our reporter that OAU chapter have resolved during the last congress not to be part of the nationwide strike.

“We have leaders and we trust their judgment, they did not betray us during trying time. We have resolved To follow our chairman” ,she said.
