The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi and the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran appeared to have finally jettisoned their rifts as they danced together in public for the first time at the inauguration of the Ilesa Government High School, Ilesa, yesterday.
Owa of Ijesa had recently visit Ooni alongside other traditional rulers in Ijesa land which dispelled the rifts rumour between the two first class Oba’s.
But the rumored rivalry between the two highly revered monarchs over the chairmanship of the Osun State Traditional Council of Obas seemed to have subsided given the manner in which they danced together on the occasion.
Oba Ogunwusi and Oba Aromolaran in their separate remarks on the occasion lauded the state government over its investment on education and showered Governor Rauf Aregbesola with royal blessing.
Speaking on behalf of the alumni of the school, a member of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), Professor Femi Odekunle said all the old students of the school are grateful to Aregbesola and that the controversy over the slight change in the name of the school was needless.
The governor said the school was built with N1.3 billion including the furnishing, landscape and electronic boards.
He said the state has committed huge amount of money on education in preparation for the future.
Aregbesola said “I must thank all Ijesa people at home and abroad, particular to those who supported us from the inception to the completion or this project.
“More importantly, I thank the teachers and students of this school who are the real owners and for whom we have toiled.”
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Modibbo Alfa Belgore and the former governor of Lagos State who was also the former Minister of Works under the Sani Abacha military regime, Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande are among the alumni of the school.
