Transport Services Shutdown in Ife Over Cult Clash

There seem to be no peace in Ile Ife as the transport workers of Sabo to Lagere road under the National Union Of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Ile Ife branch,  shutdown all activities related to transport due to the recent cultism invasion in the ancient city .

It was gathered that the marketers, passers by, indigenes, residents and others were unable to board transport bus as the road to Sabo- Lagere was filled  with no transport bus.

According to a resident who resides at Sabo area in Ile Ife, Mr Habib Oladosu lamented over the invasion of the cultists, saying that the cultists destroyed more than 50 transport busses.

He called on the Police to urgently address the incident.

Oladosu said the transport workers could not operate since on Saturday due to the fear of being attacked by the cultists.

In an exclusive interview with the NURTW Ile Ife branch, Alhaji Isiaka Olatunbosun confirmed that all transport workers at Sabo-Lagere have withdrawn services.

Olatunbosun said it was compulsory for all their workers to shutdown as normalcy is yet to return to the affected area.

He said the police have intervened in the matter and urged them to double their efforts in restoring peace in the area.
