Court Remands Three Men in Ile Ife Prison over Land Sales Fraud

An Osun State Magistrate Court II sitting in Ile Ife on Thursday ordered the remand of three men, Yusuf Muhammad, Jimoh Tosin and Falade Michael for alleged land procurement fraud.

The defendants are facing a three-count charge of criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust and cheating.

The Prosecutor, Sergeant Sunday Osanyituyi told the court that on Nov. 15, one Adelowo Seun of reported the case at Moore Divisional Police Station.

Osanyituyi said on October 26, the first defendant Yusuf, conspired with the other two at large to commit the crime.

He alleged that the defendants sold a piece of land measuring 50 by 100 ft, located at the opa area to the complainant, at the rate of N1million.

The prosecutor added that it was later discovered that the said piece of land did not belong to any of them.

He said the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 97, 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.

The Magistrate, Olamilekan Ijiyode ordered that the defendants be remanded in Ile Ife prison to serve as deterrent to others and adjourned the case until December 17 for hearing.
