Ife Central NUT Urges Students To Develop Reading Habit

The Nigeria Union Of Teachers (NUT), Ife Central branch  Chairman Comrade Adeyemi Adelowo, has called upon students of various schools to seriously cultivate the habit of reading.

Adelowo, disclosed this to Ife City News during the launch of a book, titled: ” The Incredible Teacher and His Students by Divine Favour Lawal and Sodiq Lawal”

Adelowo called upon students to go beyond their textbooks and start reading good books so as to strengthen the social literacy of the country.

He said in order to create the better awareness in society through educational institutions, there should be strong relationship between teachers and students but with a certain extent guided with ethics.

Also, a member of the NUT, Mr Joshua Taiwo expressed dissatisfaction over rising cultism and drug abuse among the school children.

“A student with a goal in life will never deviate into the path of self-destruction for they will always be socially responsible. We should not forget the fact that criminal activities like ragging are often the product of liquor and drug abuse on our communities,” he said.
