The Management of Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTH) has revealed to the residents of Osun State that there is no more cases of Lassa fever in Ile Ife.
This was disclosed in a phone conversation with Prof Adedeji Onyade, Chairman of a committee set up by the hospital management on Lassa fever.
He said that the only patient that had the deadly disease was from Ondo state and has been confirmed dead.
Similarly, the director of nursing service at Seventh Day Adventist Hospital in Ile Ife, Mr Samson Popoola also confirmed that there is no case of Lassa fever in Seven Days Adventist Hospital.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Adelani Baderinwa, had said the reported case of Lassa fever in the state is untrue, adding that only isolated death case of a patient from a neighboring state was recorded.
Baderinwa explained that the patient was admitted at the OAUTCH Ile-Ife, and later died.
