Except for last minute changes, former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore has concluded plans to formally join Social Democratic Party(SDP) to contest forthcoming governorship election in the state.
Fillers from the camp of Senator that represented Osun East Senator District in the Senate from 2003-2011 indicated that SDP leadership are willing to accept him into their folds.
A credible source told our correspondent that SDP National Chairman, Olu Falae, Olagunsoye has pledged to support Ife born politician, if runs under the party.
Recall that Omisore recently removed PDP flag and other promotional materials from his Ogooluwa Office in Osogbo, the state capital to protest election of Hon Soji Adagunodo as Osun PDP Chairman last month.
Osun State PDP has being facing internal crisis over control of party leadership for about two years as faction loyal to Omisore was rooting for Dr. Bayo Faforoji as State Party Chairman and group led by Senator Ademola Adeleke, Former Deputy Governor, Erelu Obada, Former Speaker Adejare Bello, all backed Soji Adagunodo.
Our correspondent gathered that Omisore supporters have started posting SDP related communication materials on different social media channels.
SDP leadership who are currently on consultation tour to stakeholders across the country might visit Iyiola Omisore next weekend.
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed September 22, 2018 for Osun State Governorship election.
