More facts emerged during weekend on the concession of the popular Lagere Ile-Ife Conoil filling station recently conceded to the First City Monument Bank (FCMB) who is now constructing the branch of the bank in the site.
Ife City News learnt during the weekend that one Alhaji Hammed Ola has leased the land belonging to the family of late Ooni Adesoji Aderemi for the past 30 years to construct the filling station.
The lease contract according to sources expired last year December and the family refused the renewal by insisting on outright sales of the property to the tune of 50 million and Alhaji Ola was later issued evacuation notice.
Our correspondent findings established that the late Oba Adesoji’s family sold the land at the rate of N46 Million to FCMB who is now constructing edifice structure on the land.
It would be recalled that the filling station underground thanks disposed by the site contractor led to crisis among some thugs in Ile- Ife who were fighting for the proceeds of the thanks sold to scavengers by the thugs.
The contractor has since last month fenced the project site and chased away the traders who have been selling at the sport for years.
Since the evacuation, traders have been selling their goods outside the petrol station.
A trader who preferred anonymous said, “Ever since the evacuation, we have been outside the petrol station, trading our goods in discomfort. Whenever rain falls, we pack our goods to one house till it stops raining, “she said.
