Operatives of the Police division in Moore, Ile Ife, have arrested five suspected cultists.
The eights suspected cultists were arrested on Tuesday at Igbodo area in the ancient city.
According to the area commander of the police division, Funsho Adegboye, said it has become imperative as cultism and violence had been on the increase in Ile Ife and its environs.
The Police boss added that some of the suspects who belong to “Eye and “Aye” Confraternity” had been breaching public peace, conducting themselves in violent activities within the metropolis.
He lamented the rate at which the youths, especially young school leavers who should have taken up vocational skill decided to engage in unproductive ventures such as cultism and other forms of criminal activities.
Those arrested were identified as Muyiwa Ademola, Kunle Adeyemi, Korede Adams, Dayo Johnson, and Afolabi Ismail.
Adegboye said the police recovered two pump action rifles, four locally made double-barrel pistols, 11 live cartridges and assorted charms from them.
