The palace of Odua was on Thursday stormed with thousand of dignitaries as Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwunsi, inaugurated new executives of Ife Development Board (IBD).
Comrade Olajire Lawrence Awowoyin who became the newly president of IDB and others new executives were inaugurated by the Ooni at the palace hall.
In his remark, the outgoing president of IDB, Prof. Muibi Opeloye, urged the newly executives to be non- partisans, be democratic in running affairs and to always carry the Ooni along with its actions.
He lamented on youths unemployment, deplorable Ife roads, government abandon projects and others as parts of their challenges during their regime.
He however urged the newly executives to see to the challenges so as to make Ife to metamorphosis into ideal place.
While inaugurating the newly executives, the Ooni enjoined enjoined all Ife indigenes to cooperate with the IDB for the growth and development of the ancient town.
According to him, ” Government cannot do it alone. We should not rely on them. There are lots of Ife sons and daughters who have achieved a lot in their chosen careers. I called on them to come to Ife and make the ancient city great again.
“We should establish our children and give them opportunity to progress. We opined that between five to ten years , people from far away will come back to their home, Ile Ife, to be gainfully employed.
” This is the beginning of new dawn. I have decided from my youthful day that if am opportune to be a leader, I will develop the cradle of Yoruba.
“I commended the Late Ooni Sijuade for all his efforts in developing the ancient city. I believe all is possible. God bless us in Ife land.”
The foremost monarch however urged Ife indigenes to desist from violence and ambiguous words that can lead to the setback of Ile Ife.
The newly president, Comrade Awowoyin appreciated the Ooni, IDP stakeholders and member and all Ife indigenes for their total support.
He however promised that him and his other executives will make Ife to enhance in its culture, infrastructure development and others.
