An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun on Friday remanded, Isiaka Durodola, 35, Bunmi Adeogun, 35 and Oladele Olayemi,40, over alleged secret cult membership.
The Police prosecutor, Sunmonu Raimi, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on June 6, 2019 around 5:30 am at Nonso Brotel Obalufon Area, Ile-Ife.
Raimi said that the defendants conspired among themselves to commit felony to with unlawful assembly and cultism.
He added that the defendants unlawfully assembled themselves with intent to go out by 6;00 am to conduct themselves in a manner that could cause fear and disturbed the peace of neighborhood.
According to him, the defendants unlawfully belonged to a secret cult call Eye Confraternity that is disturbing the peace of Ile-Ife.
Raimi expressed further that the offence contravened sections 62, 69, 70, and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defendants, who were not legally represented, however, pleaded not guilty to three-count charge of conspiracy, breach of public peace and unlawful membership of cult group.
Magistrate Olukunle Owolawi declined the bail application and ordered that the defendants be remanded in Ile-Ife prison custody
Owolawi adjourned the case till July 17, for ruling on bail.
